Bihar: Girl dragged out of train, gang-raped

ARA: In a shocking incident, a 16-year-old girl was dragged out of a train at Garhani railway station on Ara-Sasaram route and raped by four youths near Hasan Bazar in Bhojpur district on Thursday night. Hasan Bazar SHO has also been asked to nab the culprits, the SP added. The main accused also boarded the same train and started teasing her. However, she mustered courage and lodged an FIR at the Mahila Thana on Saturday.Mahila Thana SHO Poonam Kumari told this newspaper on Sunday that raids were being conducted to nab the four accused. “The victim’s parents are persons with disabilities,” the SHO said.

The Class VIII student kept mum out of fear as three of the accused were from her village and had threatened to kill her only brother if she reported the matter to the police. However, she mustered courage and lodged an FIR at the Mahila Thana on Saturday.Mahila Thana SHO Poonam Kumari told this newspaper on Sunday that raids were being conducted to nab the four accused. “The victim’s parents are persons with disabilities,” the SHO said. The incident took place about 55km south of Ara town.Police sources said the accused are ‘Dabangs’ (musclemen) of the area and belong to a village under the Hasan Bazar police station.The survivor in her FIR said she left her house at around 7pm on Thursday and boarded a passenger train at Hasan Bazaar railway station at around 8pm to visit her mother’s sister at Ara. The main accused also boarded the same train and started teasing her. When she protested, the accused dragged her out of the train at Garhani and forcibly took her on a bike with his accomplice near a hotel at Hasan Bazar where two others joined them and took the victim on a four-wheeler to an isolated place and gang-raped her.The youths left the girl near a school after threatening to kill her only brother if she dared to lodge any complaint.Bhojpur SP Avkash Kumar told media persons that a police team led by Mahila Thana SHO was constituted and the culprits would be arrested soon. Hasan Bazar SHO has also been asked to nab the culprits, the SP added.
