PATNA: A 50-year-old man allegedly shot dead his wife and stepson for opposing his alleged illicit relationship with 20-year-old stepdaughter at Ishopur village under the Phulwarisharif police station area around 2.30am on Tuesday. According to police, the incident occurred when the two were fast asleep. The accused, Mohammad Riyazuddin, and three of his associates managed to escape from the spot after committing the crime.The deceased were identified as Khurshida Parveen (45) and her son Mohammad Fazal (17). Police said the woman was shot at least four times while Fazal received three gunshot injuries. The family lives on the first floor of a three-storey private house owned by Riyazuddin. Police recovered seven empty cartridges from the spot.Phulwarisharif SDPO Ramakant Prasad said Riyazuddin was Khurshida’s second husband. The two had married in 2009 after the death of Khurshida’s first husband. “Khurshida had five children – three minor sons and a daughter from her first marriage and a three-year-old son from her second marriage with Riyazuddin,” Prasad said.“The murder seems to be fallout of Riyazuddin’s illicit relationship with Khurshida’s daughter. The couple also had property dispute,” the SDPO said, adding while Khurshida’s body was lying in the bed, Fazal’s bullet-ridden body was recovered from the drawing room.Prasad said Khurshida’s daughter was sleeping with her in the same bed and it was surprising that she could not hear gunshots.“Four persons, including Riyazuddin, his sister Nusrat, Khurshida’s daughter and another family member have been named in FIR lodged with Phulwarisharif police station by Farukh, Khurshida’s youngest son from her first marriage. Farukh has accused his stepfather of entering the room with three others and killing his mother and brother,” he said.According to the SDPO, one key of the main gate of the house was with Nusrat and another with Khurshida. “Khurshida’s daughter and Nusrat have been detained for interrogation,” the SDPO said.Police investigations suggest that Khurshida used to exert pressure on Riyazuddin to register his house in her name. “Riyazuddin was against handing over the house to his wife as his sister, other family members and tenants lived in the same house,” Prasad said.The SDPO added Riyazuddin had come out of jail only three months back in connection with a domestic violence case lodged against him by Khurshida with Phulwarisharif police station.“Riyazuddin had not been living at his Ishopur house for the last one month. Khurshida’s daughter was also living in a shelter home after Riyazuddin’s arrest. However, after coming out of jail, Riyazuddin withdrew her from shelter home and shifted her to a hostel. She was brought back to the house by her mother one month back,” the SDPO said.
