MUZAFFARPUR: Police arrested the wife and father of Sujit Kumar, an accused in the murder of former Muzaffarpur mayor Samir Kumar, after liquor and forged voter identity cards were found at their rented house in Narayani lane locality of the town on Sunday night.Muzaffarpur senior superintendent of police Manoj Kumar on Monday confirmed the arrests of Sujit’s wife Manju Kumari and father Jitendra Kumar Mishra.“We had raided Sujit’s rented house following information about his presence there. He, however, managed to dodge the raiding team. The police recovered two cartons of India-made foreign liquor (IMFL) and two forged electoral photo identity cards in the name of Manju from the house,” he said.The SSP added raids were on to arrest Sujit and his associate Govind, a resident of Silaut Gajpatti under the Maniyari police station area in the district. The two were made accused in the former mayor murder case based on the statement of Sushil Kumar Chhapadia, who was earlier arrested on charges of duping a trader.Meanwhile, the investigating officer of the case on Monday filed an application in the court of chief judicial magistrate for attachment of properties of Sujit and Kovind. “We have also applied for pasting posters at the ancestral houses of the two. The court has already issued arrest warrants against the duo,” SHO of Town police station Dhananjay Kumar said.Former mayor Samir Kumar and his driver Rohit Kumar were gunned down in broad daylight near the fire station office at Chandwara here on September 23 this year.
