Over 3 700 youths shortlisted for job

BHAGALPUR: More than 24,000 youths undergoing vocational training participated in the three-day ‘Job-cum-Apprenticeship Fair’ which concluded here on Sunday. The organizers also narrated the various aspects of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikash Yojana (PMKVY), National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS), Kushal Yuva Programme of Bihar Skill Development Mission (BSDM), Government of Bihar, National Career Service (NCS), Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) etc.“Over 40 companies from across the country participated in the job fair and selected youths for skill training and employment,” said labour resources department sources.One Md Shahruk Sidiqqui, who got a job in the fair, said, “It was a positive step for the young generation who have meagre resources.” While 8,691 students got themselves registered at the fair, 3,783 youths were shortlisted for job in various government organizations.The fair was jointly organized by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Government of India and state labour resources department.Participants were informed about the educational and vocational opportunities provided by institutions like Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in the region, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras (PMKKs), Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) centers, etc besides private centres at the fair.An awareness programme was also organized for students in which they were briefed about various central and state government schemes which help to generate employment through skill development.
