Centres bid to promote protect Maithili language

PATNA: The Union ministry of human resource development (MHRD) on Monday accepted some recommendations of the committee set up for promotion and protection of Maithili language and its script.The accepted recommendations include establishment of a script and manuscript centre in Darbhanga either at Kameshwar Singh Sanskrit University or Lalit Narayan Mithila University, early completion of work pertaining to Unicode scripts of Mithilakshar by the Technology Development of Indian Languages and preparation of audio-visual materials for teaching of Mithilakshar scripts.The committee had submitted the report to MHRD in 2018 in which several recommendations were tabled for promotion and protection of Maithili language.
