PATNA: Patna will get a major share in the projects worth Rs 33,000 crore to be launched by Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi at Begusarai on Sunday.Apart from laying the foundation stone for the much-awaited Patna metro rail project, the PM will dedicate to Patnaites the 4.9km-long promenade from Collectorate Ghat to Raja Ghat under the Ganga riverfront project. One of the four STPs will come up at Karmalichak in Patna. Under water supply scheme, a 2,431km-long supply water pipe will be laid to provide water connection to 3,02,904 households in different districts of Bihar. A 96.54km-long pipeline network and a sewage pumping station (SPS) will also be constructed under this project with an estimated expenditure of Rs 277.42 crore.

So far, 16 ghats, an eco centre, an audio-visual theatre, a community-cum-cultural centre and a crematorium have been constructed with an expenditure of Rs 243.27 crore in the first phase of the Ganga riverfront project, which is part of the Centre’s Namami Gange project.An official of Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (BUIDCO) said an eco centre has been constructed at Collectorate Ghat while audio-visual centre has come up at Gandhi Ghat. The community-cum-cultural centre has been constructed at Raja Ghat and crematorium at Gulbi Ghat.The PM will also lay foundation stones for four sewerage treatment plants (STPs) worth Rs 452.24 crore under the Namami Gange project. One of the four STPs will come up at Karmalichak in Patna. A 96.54km-long pipeline network and a sewage pumping station (SPS) will also be constructed under this project with an estimated expenditure of Rs 277.42 crore. At least 38,167 households will be benefitted from this station.At Barh, an 11 million per litre per day (MLD) STP and two SPSs will be constructed along with interception and diversion of three drains with an expenditure of Rs 58.27 crore. Similarly, an STP of 10 MLD capacity and four SPSs will be constructed at Sultanganj in Bhagalpur. For Naugachhia in Bhagalpur, foundation stone for an STP with 9MLD capacity and six SPS will be laid by the PM. These sewerage projects, with their combined capacity, will prevent flow of 6.7 crore litre of sewage per day into the Ganga.Modi will also lay the foundation stones for 22 other projects under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme.
