The world record for deaths in one day due to the Covid-19 epidemic has been broken today. India has again made this record with 6,148 Covid deaths on Wednesday. Surprisingly, the second wave of the Covid-19 is continuously weakening and the daily new cases are declining, but the death toll has increased more than two and a half times in a single day. This came as a surprise because 3,951 deaths have been counted from Bihar alone, which is about two-third of the total figure of the country.

The cumulative death toll in Bihar has suddenly increased by 73 percent. Till June 7, the total death toll stood at 5424, which has now suddenly jumped to 9375.

In Bihar, opposition parties have been accusing them of manipulating the death toll since long. The state government has given reasons to deepen these accusations by amending the figures. Earlier the government had reported 5529 dead but within 24 hours the toll jumped to 9429.

The government investigation revealed that the number of deaths being sent to the districts was rigged on a large scale. The districts were not sent the correct figures of fatalities.

Additional Chief Secretary of Health Department Pratyay Amrit has admitted that the exact figure of death was not revealed. He said that action would be taken against those who did wrong by not giving correct information.
