Portal can not be made available, Bihar Govt tells in HC

Advocate General Lalit Kishor told the court that the portals running in the state are under a central law. He said that the portal cannot be made available to the general public.

Public interest litigations filed in the Patna High Court on the matter of the coronavirus epidemic in the state of Bihar were also heard on Saturday. The Patna High Court has reserved the decision after completing the hearing on the ongoing digital portal case in the state.

 

There was a discussion in the court regarding sharing it publicly on the portal matter. State Planning and Development Commissioner Amir Subhani and IT Secretary Santosh Kumar Mall attended the video conferencing.

Advocate General Lalit Kishor told the court that the portals running in the state are under a central law. He said that the portal cannot be made available to the general public. This may lead to confusion.

The Advocate General said that the portals in the state are running under the law of the Center. In such a situation, there is no need for the state government to make rules. He also said that no complaint has been received in this regard.

It is being operated under the Birth and Death Registration Act 1969. The Registrar General of India will authorize the operation of the digital portal in the state, he will operate them.
