Patna High Court heard the election petition challenging the election of former state health minister and RJD MLA Tej Pratap Yadav as MLA.

Justice Virendra Kumar, while hearing the election petition of Vijay Kumar Yadav, directed both the parties to frame the issue and present it in court in the next hearing.

Let us tell you that Vijay Kumar Yadav, the defeated candidate from the Hasanpur assembly constituency in the 2020 assembly elections of Bihar, has filed an election petition challenging the election of MLA Tej Pratap Yadav.

The petitioner`s advocate Jagannath Singh told the court that his election has been challenged on the ground that he has deliberately not given full details of his assets in the nomination papers made for the election. The nomination for the Bihar Assembly elections was filed on October 16, 2020.

The scrutiny of nomination papers was done on October 17, 2020. October 19, 2020 was the last date for withdrawal of nominations. The assembly elections were held on November 3, 2020, and the election results were declared on November 10, 2020.

In this Tej Pratap Yadav won from Hasanpur assembly constituency. The next hearing on this matter will be held again on September 2, 2021.

Let us tell you that in the last assembly elections, Tej Pratap Yadav was successful in winning from Hasanpur in Samastipur. He defeated his nearest rival JD(U) candidate by around 14,000 votes.

Tej Pratap got 62337 votes while JDU candidate Rajkumar Rai got 48405 votes. Lok Janshakti Party candidate Manish Kumar got 7785 votes.
