BJP leader RCP`s kin shot at in Nalanda district

BIHARSHARIF: Miscreants shot at and critically injured a relative of former Union minister and BJP leader RCP Singh in Nalanda late Sunday evening. The injured person was rushed to Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) where his condition was stated to be critical.The victim, identified as Pintu Singh alias Pragati Kumar, is a native of village Dhanarua under Silao police station area in Nalanda district. He was shot at near his house while returning home after attending a meeting with RCP at his ancestral village Mustafapur under Asthawan police station area in the district.Pintu has accused co-villagers Salan Mahto and Dalan Mahto. He said the duo, associated with JD(U), had threatened him with dire consequences if he did not stop meeting RCP. Two arrested for attacking RCPs relativeHowever, Nalanda SP Ashok Kumar Mishra told reporters that Pintu had an old dispute with the accused which might be a reason behind the incident. He said the investigation was being carried out from other angles as well. He said all the criminals involved in committing the crime would be arrested soon.Rajgir SDPO Pradeep Kumar said two miscreants, identified as Shishupal, son of Munnu Prasad, and Bunty Kumar, son of Rakesh Prasad, were arrested. Both belong to the same Dhanarua village. He said raids were being conducted to arrest the other persons involved in the crime.Former Union minister Singh strongly condemned the incident, suggesting that it might be a part of political conspiracy. He pointed fingers at the ruling JD(U) for the attack. He alleged that the assailants had their affiliation with JD(U).RCP claimed that his growing popularity in Nalanda had worried the JD(U), resulting in the attack on his relative. He also asserted that chief minister Nitish Kumar lacked the courage to face political challenges. He apprehended such attack on him also.
