PATNA: One Arun Mahto, husband of Rosera Nagar Parishads deputy chairman Babita Kumari, was shot dead by criminals near Lakshmipur Durga temple under the Rosera police station area in Samastipur district on Thursday.Mahto, who was shot thrice by the criminals, died on the spot. He was, taken to Rosera sub-divisional hospital where the doctors declared him dead.Rosera SDPO Shivam Kumar said three criminals were involved in the killing. "Mahto received gunshot injuries around his waist. Footage of CCTV cameras installed in the locality is being scanned to identify the criminals and arrest them." Locals to police: Arrest the killers immediatelyThe reason for the murder is yet to be ascertained. The victims elder brother, Santosh Kumar Mahto, has lodged an FIR at the local police station in connection with the case, the SDPO added. An irate mob kept Mahtos body on Rosera-Begusarai road and blocked traffic for several hours, demanding immediate arrest of the criminals. According to locals, the criminals had earlier fired at Mahto near the Dalsinghsarai railway crossing three days ago. However, he had escaped unhurt then.
