26% rainfall deficit in Bihar this monsoon

PATNA: Hot and sultry weather returned on Sunday though the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted scattered rainfall till September 16 as monsoon is still active in the state.Till September 10, the state has received a total of 629.4mm rainfall against the corresponding normal of 851.2mm. As a result, the state has a rainfall deficiency of 26% this monsoon."All parts of the state are likely to receive isolated rainfall in the next 24 hours along with thunderstorms and lightning at a few places in south and north-western regions," said S K Suman, an official at Patna Meteorological Centre.Pupari (37.4°C) recorded the maximum temperature on Sunday, followed by Aurangabad (36.9°C), Vaishali (36.6°C), Bhagalpur (36.3°C), Dehri (36.2°C) and Jamui (36°C). Patna recorded a maximum temperature of 35.3°C.According to Patna Meteorological Centre, the monsoon trough line now passes through Jaisalmer, Kota, Sidhi, Jamshedpur, Digha and then southeastward to the northeast Bay of Bengal.
