Bihar: Former Koilwar ward councillor shot dead

ARA: Two unidentified armed criminals killed a former ward councillor of Koilwar Nagar Panchayat on the busy Ara-Chhapra road Friday morning. The deceased, Tribhuwan Mahto (45), son of one Jagdish Mahto, was a resident of Katkaira Milki village under Koilwar police station area in Bhojpur district. The incident took place when Mahto was going by his car to buy vegetables from a nearby village market. His body was found lying in a pool of blood near his car on the road. According to the sources, he was the councillor of the Koilwar Nagar Panchayat ward number 1 from 2007 to 2012.Raids on: SPBhojpur SP Pramod Kumar Yadav told reporters, He was shot in the head and died on the spot. The accused has been identified and raids are going on to nab them. Initial investigation revealed that Mahto had a fight with the accused a few days back. Old enmity seems to be the reason behind the murder. Though police are investigating the case from all angles, he added. Angry locals blocked the Ara-Chhapra road by placing the body in the middle of the road and demanded the arrest of the culprits. The station house officer (SHO) of Koilwar police station, Avinash Kumar, pacified the people.
