Patna: Senior BJP functionary Sushil Kumar Modi on Tuesday levelled fresh allegations of acquiring benami properties through shell companies by RJD chief Lalu Prasad 's family.Furnishing relevant documents, Modi alleged that Fairgrow Holdings Pvt Ltd, a shell firm incorporated with a fake address in Kolkata with fake shareholders, was first taken over by close confidantes of RJD Rajya Sabha member Prem Chand Gupta in 2006 and then transferred to Lalu's family in 2014. Gupta is a close confidante of Lalu and was minister of corporate affairs in UPA-1 when the RJD chief was railway minister.Modi alleged that the company, which was neither doing any business nor had any employees, had acquired property worth Rs76.32 lakh in 2008, though the registration documents of the company state it is involved in manufacturing general purpose machinery.As per the documents available on the website of Registrar of Companies, Fairgrow Holdings Pvt Ltd was incorporated on November 18, 1991 and its registered office address is 130/1 Bakul Bagan Road, Bhowanipur, Kolkata, West Bengal. The two directors in the firm at present are Lalu's third daughter Chanda Yadav and fourth daughter Ragini Lalu.Modi furnished documents stating that the two minister sons of Lalu — Bihar deputy CM Tejashwi Prasad Yadav and health minister Tej Pratap were also appointed as directors in the firm on June 19, 2014, but they resigned before contesting the 2015 assembly election. However, upon investigation, it was found that none of the persons lived at that address, which means all shareholders are fake," Modi said on the sidelines of his weekly janata darbar on Tuesday.The former deputy CM further alleged that the property worth Rs76.32 lakh was first mentioned as 'buildings' in the balance sheet of the firm in 2007, but it was later mentioned as 'land' in the balance sheet of 2014.Reacting to SuMo's allegations, RJD state unit's chief spokesperson Shakti Yadav said, "He (Modi) is suffering from Lalu phobia; that's why he keeps making absurd and baseless allegations. However, neither people nor the RJD pays heed to his remarks."
