PM launches infra projects worth Rs 3,769 crore in Bihar

He said the road construction projects worth Rs53,000 crore out of the Rs55,000 crore sanctioned for road sector in the Rs1.25 lakh crore special package for Bihar had either been completed or were underway.Without taking his name, the PM also took a dig at RJD chief Lalu Prasad for poor condition of roads in Bihar during his tenure. "There are certain people who used to say roads are not the poor, but for those who possess cars. No one has damaged the country more than such leaders with distorted mindset," Modi said and added, "Bihar probably had not witnessed as much road construction works as it has in the past three years. "Talking about rural electrification works, PM said, "We had the target of providing electricity to the left-out 18,000 villages in 1000 days and we have completed electrification in 15,000 villages. The remaining villages will be covered within time frame.

MOKAMA: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday reiterated his commitment to developing eastern region while laying the foundation of infrastructure projects worth Rs3,769 crore, including sewage treatment plants for Patna, the four-laning of Aunta-Simariya section of NH-31 and the construction of a six-lane bridge over the Ganga at a function in the 'Taal' area of Mokama , approximately 90km from Patna.Other road projects included four-laning of Bakhtiyarpur-Mokama section of NH-31 with an estimated outlay of Rs837 crore, two-lane Maheshkhunt-Saharsa-Purnia section of NH 107 (Rs736 crore) and two-lane Biharsharif Barbigha-Mokama section of NH-82 (Rs297 crore).Starting his speech in Magahi, PM praised chief minister Nitish Kumar for his commitment to the development of Bihar. The remaining villages will be covered within time frame."He also said over 3 crore poor families in the country have been provided LPG connection during the last three years and two crore more will get a connection in the next two years.Stressing the need of sanitation (toilet) in the country, he said 2.5 lakh villages have been made open-defecation free.Governor Satya Pal Malik, Union ministers Nitin Gadkari , Ram Vilas Paswan, R K Singh, Giriraj Singh, deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi among others were also present.
