Jumbos enter Ramgarh, alert sounded

Ramgarh: The department of forest, environment and climate change sounded an alert after a herd of 32 wild elephants entered Mandu block of Ramgarh district and camped in the forest near villages located in the neighbouring Bokaro district. This has triggered fear among the local residents. The forest department has advised people at Basantpur village under Mandu block to not go close to the herd.Nitish Kumar, divisional forest officer, Ramgarh, said, Its difficult to predict their movement. The incident was captured in a viral video clip. Villagers in the area regularly ignore warnings and let their cattle roam freely in the forest. The forest officials have faced challenges in preventing villagers from entering the forest due to limited staff. After the incident, camera traps have been installed in the border area to monitor the situation.Officers urge villagers not to venture into forestA villager was killed by a tiger in the Nagarahole Tiger Reserve in Mysuru, India. The victim had been warned not to enter the forest, but ventured in to graze cattle. Forest officials are now trying to locate the tiger responsible for the attack. Camera traps have been set up in the area to monitor the situation. In other news, a leopardess was captured in a village in Mysuru and a python was rescued in Chamundi Hills.
