Med team rushes to CM’s constituency as three die in diarrhoea outbreak

DUMKA: Diarrhoea has claimed at least three lives, including that of two women, in Ketke Tola village under Barhait block of Sahibganj district with nearly one dozen people reported to have been suffering from the ailment.The village, nearly 25 km from Barhait block headquarters, comes under chief minister Hemant Sorens home constituency of Barhait and is dominated by people of the particularly vulnerable tribal group — Pahadiya.The area lacks proper road connectivity despite being part of the CMs home constituency. All victims are from the Pahadiya community. The Sahibganj district administration and the health department came to know about the diarrhoea outbreak in Ketke Tola village on Friday after the death of Soni Pahadin (65) and Surji Pahadin (20).
