9 cyber criminals arrested from Giridih call centre

Bokaro: The Giridih police raided a call centre that was operating from the house of one Baldev Yadav located at Bodo locality under the Pachamba police station limits and arrested nine cyber fraus on Monday, police said.The arrested accused were identified as Ashok Kumar of Jamtara besides Nilesh Kumar Mandal, Mohan Kumar Mandal, Rudra Kumar, Mahendra Singh, Motilal Kisku, Neeraj Kumar Turi, Nageshwar Das, and Mahendra Mandal of Giridih, they added. Giridih SP Deepka Kumar Sharma said, A total of 16 mobile phones, 25 SIM cards, four ATM cards, six bank passbooks, two checkbooks, three PhonePe QR codes, and two motorcycles were seized during the raid.The cyber criminals used to pose as agents and offered assistance to the targeted victims in availing government schemes and clearing utility bills. Pregnant women were promised maternity benefits amounting to Rs 6,300, while individuals with outstanding electricity bills were threatened with disconnection. They used to make the targeted victims download apps on their mobile and siphoned off money from their bank accounts, he added.
