Ranchi: Sixteen police personnel of Jharkhand, including seven IPS officers, have been chosen for the Union Home Ministers Special Operations Medal for the year, 2023. The announcement came on Tuesday.Among them are additional director general of police Sanjay Anandrao Lathkar, inspector generals Homkar Amol Vinukant and Raj Kumar Lakra, deputy inspector general Anoop Birtharay, superintendents of police Shivani Tiwari, Anjani Anjan and Anjani Kumar Jha, second in command Vivekanand Singh, assistant commandant Kamlesh Kumar, inspector Satyendra Kumar Singh, sub-inspectors Gautam Kumar, Jamil Ansari and Manohar Ram, head constable Raj Kumar Oraon and constables Ratan Kumar Yadav and Vishnu Kumar.Officials said the award was given for the anti-extremist operations known as Operation Octopus which led to the freeing of the Maoist fortress Burha Pahar and the Operation Double Bull which was conducted in the tri-junction of Lohardaga, Latehar and Gumla districts.We also published the following articles recently204 police personnel chosen for Special Operation MedalThe CRPFs special operations in Jharkhand and the NIAs crackdown on the Popular Front of India have been chosen for the Union Home Ministers Special Operation Medal for 2023. A total of 204 security personnel, including those from CRPF, NIA, NCB, and police forces from various states, have been recognized for their efforts in special operations related to counter-terrorism, border action, prevention of narcotics smuggling, and rescue operations. The operations resulted in the elimination, arrest, or surrender of Naxal leaders, the dismantling of a drug syndicate, and the arrest of PFI leaders.Police inspector shot by terrorists in downtown Srinagar, critically woundedA police officer in Jammu and Kashmir was shot and critically injured by terrorists while playing cricket with local boys in Srinagar. The officer, Inspector Masroor Wani, was taken to the hospital where his condition is reported to be critical. Security forces have initiated a search operation following the attack.CMRL to operate additional trains on TuesdayDue to the suspension of southern railway EMU services between Tambaram and Beach, CMRL is running additional trains from 8am to 8pm. Peak hour service will operate every six minutes between Wimco Nagar depot and Airport metro. A short loop service between Alandur metro to Washermenpet metro will also be available every three minutes from 8am to 11am and 5pm to 8pm. Trains will run every six minutes between Alandur metro and Central metro, and every 12 minutes between Central metro and St Thomas Mount. Three additional trains will also be operating on this route.
