Students attacked in Ramgarh for protesting against eve-teasing

Ramgarh: Tension simmered at Mael village of Chitarpur block under the Rajrappa police station on Saturday, a day after a group from a minority community attacked 12 students, including girls, of a government school. The students were allegedly targeted for protesting against the harassment and eve-teasingof women and were forced to raise religious slogans.The injured students are currently undergoing treatment at theRamgarh district hospital.Reacting to the incident, BJP state president Babulal Marandi accused chief minister Hemant Soren of failing to address the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. On X, Marandi posted that girls of the majority community are now afraid to go to school as they were attacked by men of a particular minority group, who are protected by the Hemant Soren government in Chitarpur. The accident occurred in the accident-prone Chutupalu Valley when a speeding trailer with a Nagaland registration overturned after the driver lost control due to a reported brake failure. The trailer hit three vehicles, causing traffic snarls for over six hours. The deceased were identified as Dinesh Bediya, Shankar Bediya, and an unidentified attendant of the trailer.
