Three earthquakes strike Meghalaya, Assam and Manipur, no loss of life and property

Three north-eastern states of Assam, Manipur and Meghalaya were jolted by earthquake tremors on Friday.

Three north-eastern states of Assam, Manipur and Meghalaya were jolted by earthquake tremors on Friday. These three earthquakes occurred within a few hours this morning, causing panic among the people.

However, they were low-intensity quakes and did not cause any loss of life and property. The earthquake struck areas of Tezpur in Assam, Chandel of Manipur and West Khasi Hills of Meghalaya according to the National Seismology has given this information.

According to the information, tremors were felt in West Khasi Hills of Meghalaya at 4.20 am. Its intensity was measured at 2:6 on the reactor scale. The earthquake that struck Tezpur in Assam at 2 am was measured at 4.1 on the Richter scale, while an earthquake of magnitude 3.04 was felt in Moirang, Manipur at 1:06 am.

The earthquakes at three places were of low intensity but the shaking of the earth caused panic among the people. Some people came out even after nightfall. But the good thing is that there was no loss of life and property in these three places.
