Father-son duo held for attacking man in family court

TRICHY: The sessions court police arrested a 30-year-old man and his 65-year-old father and remanded them in judicial custody for injuring a man with a knife. An angered Thamaraiselvan took out the knife from his pocket and slashed the latter’s neck leaving him injured and bleeding. However, their marriage lasted for just two months after which he had applied for a divorce citing his unwillingness to live with her.On Monday, they appeared for a hearing in the case when the incident took place. The incident triggered panic among others in the area.On getting the information, the session’s court police rushed to the spot and sent Natarajan to the Mahatma Gandhi memorial government hospital (MGMGH) in Trichy.After making inquiries, police detained the father-son duo. The victim, Natarajan alias Naveen, 26, is the younger brother of Kavitha.Police said that a heated argument broke out between Thamaraiselvan and Natarajan at the family court even as others were looking on.

The accused were identified as R Thamaraiselvan and his father Rajendran from Eda street in Palakkarai.The incident took place on the campus of the Trichy district court on Monday during the hearing of the divorce case between Thamaraiselvan and his wife Kavitha, 28. The victim, Natarajan alias Naveen, 26, is the younger brother of Kavitha.Police said that a heated argument broke out between Thamaraiselvan and Natarajan at the family court even as others were looking on. An angered Thamaraiselvan took out the knife from his pocket and slashed the latter’s neck leaving him injured and bleeding.
