Parents panic over rumours of girl students being kidnapped

Karur: Tension prevailed in Thanthonimalai town in the district on Monday after rumours spread that girls from a panchayat school were kidnapped by a gang. Upon hearing this, police rushed to the spot and conducted an investigation.Karur revenue divisional officer (RDO) Saravanamoorthy also reached the school and checked the attendance registry there. After hearing the rumours, several parents rushed to the school in order to check if their children were safe.Soon, police reached the school to conduct investigation and confirmed that the rumours were false.According to Pasupathypalayam police personnel, rumours started floating in the town on Monday morning that a gang had kidnapped the school girls from the Panchayat Union Elementary School, which has strength of more than 200 students.
