3 houses burgled in Trichy city in one night

Trichy: Three houses in Thiruverumbur and Kattur in the city were robbed in separate incidents by unidentified burglars, who decamped with jewellery and cash on Wednesday.Chandrasekar, 46, a private company employee from Ganesh Nagar, 4th Main Road was left his wife Vijaya, 45 at the relative’s house nearby and went to work on Wednesday.When he returned home in the night, he found the gate and door of the front side of the house broken. Chandrasekar found the bureau kept inside his house open and found 13 sovereigns of gold ornaments and Rs 23,000 cash kept in the bureau stolen.The Thiruverumbur police took up the investigation. The finger print samples were collected.In another incident that took place in North Pillayar Kovil Street in Kattur area on Wednesday night, the resident Mahesh, 47, a ration shop employee, his wife a staff in Tamil University in Thanjavur and their small daughter were fast asleep in the hall.Burglars gained entry into the house by breaking open the back door of the house. Sensing some noise, the couple woke up and checked the house. She found the four sovereigns gold chain that she was wearing missing. The burglars had fled the scene with the chain. The Thiruverumbur police investigated into the matter.The third incident occurred in Fathima Nagar in Kattur where the burglars gained entry into the house and robbed three sovereigns gold chain from a 14-year-old girl at knife point on Wednesday night.The girl was alone at home as her parents went to a relative’s place. The burglars also took away a mobile phone from the house. The Thiruverumbur police registered a case.
