Five robberies in two days rock city

Trichy: The city has witnessed two back-to-back incidents of house break-ins in a couple of days. Police also seized the camera from them.The Srirangam police (crime) registered three cases of chain-snatching on Monday. According to his complaint, he left home after locking it and was away at his nephew’s marriage near Chathiram bus stand on Monday morning. On his return in the afternoon, he found the backdoor of his house broken. On his return in the afternoon, he found the backdoor of his house broken. The valuables kept in the house were also missing.He alleged that the burglars decamped with 63 sovereigns of gold ornaments, Rs 35,000 in cash and two mobile phones worth Rs 15,000 from the house.The Thillai Nagar police took up the investigation and registered a case.Fort police in the city received another complaint of robbery during night hours. S Rabee Sindhuraj, 40, a worker at a private security camera system company, lodged a police complaint on Monday that a CCTV camera installed inside KVB ATM on EB Road was stolen on Sunday night.The police conducted an investigation and arrested M Selvam, 19, from EB Road and C Kavin alias Gopalakrishnan, 21, from Paramathivellor in Namakkal district in connection with the theft. The duo was remanded in judicial custody. Police also seized the camera from them.The Srirangam police (crime) registered three cases of chain-snatching on Monday. The police said that a gold chain weighing five sovereigns belongs to K Santhanalakshmi, 78, from Amman Temple Street in Srirangam, three-sovereign gold chain of N Usha, 48, from Malligaipoo Agraharam and a two-sovereign gold chain of S Rajeswari, 45, from North adayavalanjan street were snatched by a two-wheeler borne culprit on November 3, 4 and 11 near their houses.The police said that they received the complaint on Monday and registered a case in this connection.
