Bike-borne men snatch woman’s gold chain in city

The pillion rider snatched her gold chain weighing five sovereigns. Trichy: Two motorcycle-borne men snatched the gold chain of a 48-year-old woman at Thillai Nagar in Trichy on Tuesday evening.A Madhavi of Vadavur keezha Street in Thillai Nagar was on her way back home when two men followed her on a motorcycle. The area already witnessed such crimes. Though police arrested the snatchers in the previous incidents, it cropped up again. The duo sped away with the chain.Since the incident took place before dusk, there were lesser movement of people on the road.Based on a complaint filed by the woman, the Thillai Nagar police visited the spot and registered a case.The incidence of chain-snatching in Thillai Nagar – one of the few posh localities in the city underlined the lack of police patrolling in the area.
