Trichy: Anti-vice squad (AVS) police attached to Trichy city police arrested a 30-year-old woman for running a brothel and subjecting a woman into prostitution in Srirangam on Thursday.Acting on a complaint from the house owner, the wing searched the house in Mangammal Nagar main road in Srirangam. The search exposed the on-going brothel in the house and the police team rounded up 2 people. The pimp who was running the brothel was identified as B Kavitha, a native of Thuraiyur in Trichy district. And the victim also aged around 30 years was from Trichy.The police took them into their custody on Wednesday night. The police grilled Kavitha and it was revealed that she was already an accused in a brothel case in Trichy city limit in 2015. The latest brothel had been going on for the past three months.Though the immoral business was active in the house, the owner of the house recently suspected their activities and informed the police. The police enquired with the house owner and it was found that the woman took the house for rental under the guise of a family woman.Kavitha was arrested and produced before the court on Thursday afternoon and was remanded to judicial custody. The rescued victim was sent to government women’s home for rehabilitation.
