Officials urged to take to e-learning on best practices

Employees of the Tiruchi Corporation have completed various levels of the e-learning modules in the Swachh Bharat e-learning portal, said N. Ravichandran, Corporation Commissioner, here on Friday. The Ministry of Urban Development has launched the Swachh Bharat e-learning portal, wherein online courses on available best practices have been developed and uploaded to train staff of urban local bodies across the country. Officers from various urban local bodies from across the country attended the workshop. Weightage is given for e-learning courses under ‘Swachh Survekshan’ rankings and Tiruchi had scored high on this aspect, he said. They also inspected some of the solid waste management projects being implemented in the city during the day.

Inaugurating a capacity building workshop on e-learning under Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), Mr. Ravichandran pointed out that the portal draws from the leading practices in sanitation sector and introduces these to municipal functionaries who are at the forefront of delivering objectives of the SBM. The Ministry of Urban Development has launched the Swachh Bharat e-learning portal, wherein online courses on available best practices have been developed and uploaded to train staff of urban local bodies across the country. Weightage is given for e-learning courses under ‘Swachh Survekshan’ rankings and Tiruchi had scored high on this aspect, he said. City Engineer S. Amudhavalli and other officers explained the various best practices adopted by the Corporation including the automated monitoring system of collection and transport of solid waste and the community-based maintenance of public toilets in the city. Officers from various urban local bodies from across the country attended the workshop. They also inspected some of the solid waste management projects being implemented in the city during the day.
