Many of the complainants are not well versed with the variety of motorbike or car models. Or they fail to notice the vehicle properly due to shock or anxiety,” said Manoj Sashidhar, city police commissioner.“Most complainants are usually able to describe the vehicle vaguely. We try to identify the vehicle on the basis of their description but it may not be accurate. So it causes delay in identifying the vehicle and investigation too,” said Rahul Patel, ACP (crime). So the police decided to print a booklet that carries photographs of motorbikes and four-wheeler models.“We have printed 50 such booklets and distributed them at all the police stations. The booklet also carries instructions on how to use it. Whenever any citizen becomes victim of any crime that involves any vehicle, all that he or she has to do is walk in the police station and identify the vehicle model from the booklet,” said Sashidhar. The cops will then launch hunt for the vehicle. “The idea is to prevent any confusion while investigating the case and also in the FIR,” Patel added.
