30-year-old labourer mowed down by truck in Yakutpura

Vadodara: A 30-year-old labourer died after he was mowed down by a dumper truck near Madaar Market in Yakutpura on Wednesday.Deceased identified as Suresh Aarad, who lives at Ajwa Road, was going for work on his motorcycle when the dumper coming from behind ran him over. A case of rash driving and causing death due to negligence was registered against the absconding truck driver at City police station. However, before people could vent their anger, the driver fled from the spot leaving the truck behind. Police reached the spot and made sure that the crowd does not turn violent and pelt stones at the truck.Cops immediately shifted Aarad’s body for post-mortem at SSG Hospital. Cops said that they are in process of tracking down the owner of the truck so that they can nab the driver.Even as heavy vehicles are banned in city limits during day time, many drivers drive their truck in the city.

Aarad’s body got stuck in the rear part of the truck due to the accident.Eye-witnesses told the police that the driver of the truck did not realize immediately that the body was stuck because of which it was dragged for several feet before the driver stopped his truck.Due to the accident in a crowded area, locals gathered there in large number. However, before people could vent their anger, the driver fled from the spot leaving the truck behind. Police reached the spot and made sure that the crowd does not turn violent and pelt stones at the truck.Cops immediately shifted Aarad’s body for post-mortem at SSG Hospital.
