Vadodara: Gotri police had booked Prakash Pillai for trespassing and criminal intimidation on June 7 and arrested him. Pillai approached the Gujarat DGP and complained about Gotri police inspector G A Sarvaiya, for allegedly filing a false complaint against him. “The DGP has asked CID (crime) to investigate the complaint,” Pillai said.“The piece of land concerned, on which I was accused of trespassing, has been in my possession for years. A dispute had occurred over the ownership of the land, which was sold to some persons by the original owners in 2000. When their deal didn’t work out, the owners sold it to me. The original owners even cancelled the power of attorney that they gave those buyers,” Pillai said.“Those buyers used the power of attorney later and even forged the signature of one of the dead owners, to execute a sale deed, after which I filed a FIR against them at JP Road police station. I also filed a writ petition in a civil court, to cancel the sale deed they had executed for this plot of land,” Pillai said. “I paid the full price of the land to the original owners in front of the court in 2017. The civil court had ordered the status quo to be maintained for the land possession title and the same status continues now,” Pillai added.“On June 7, Gotri police picked me up from the plot, accusing me of trespassing on the property and intimidating the party I am in dispute with. I explained to the cops about the court cases and produced all the documents. However, the Gotri inspector didn’t consider my explanation and instead filed an FIR against me. I have also been thrown out of my plot,” Pillai said.“I decided to approach Gujarat CM and DGP on June 18 and filed a complaint against Gotri police inspector G A Sarvaiya. The DGP immediately handed the inquiry to CID (crime), Gandhinagar,” Pillai said.Yashpal Jaganiya, ACP, CID (crime), Vadodara said, “Pillai met me and showed me the DGP’s letter about the inquiry. However, we are yet to get the letter officially. Once we get the letter, we will take further action.”Pillai was arrested in 2006 under the NDPS Act, after police claimed to have found drugs at his house. Pillai had complained against the cops and accused them of planting drugs in his house. The case was later transferred to CID (crime). Two cops were arrested for the fake drug trafficking case.
