32 suffer from food poisoning, 14 hospitalized

VADODARA/ANAND: As many as 32 girl students, residing in a girls’ hostel in Anand town, suffered from food poisoning on Saturday.While 18 of them were given primary treatment at the hostel campus itself, 14 others were admitted to general hospital in Anand.Sources suggest the girl students complained of diarrhoea, vomiting and uneasiness in the afternoon after they had their lunch at Kasturba Vidyalaya, the hostel campus located inside D N High School campus.The girl students had consumed ‘paneer sabji’ and ‘roti’ in lunch which is the likely reason behind food poisoning.After the girl students started complaining about uneasiness, they were shifted to general hospital by the hostel authorities.Campus director Mahesh Patel, who had also rushed to the hospital, said it is for the first time in their campus that they have come across such a case of food poisoning.Patel assured that the reason behind food poisoning will be thoroughly investigated and action taken against the concerned.The girl students, who complained of severe bout of vomiting, are between 14 and 17 years of age.Hospital authorities said the condition of the 14 girl students was stable and that they have been kept under observation.
