Vadodara: The JP Road police has got the CCTV footages from the posh Green Park Society in Akota to get more clues about the man who looted an 85-year-old woman in her house on Sunday. The footage shows a man driving a two-wheeler and stopping near the victim Anjali Khopkar’s house. Police also questioned Vijay Vankar, son of the help hired by Khopkar.“Footages show that he parked the vehicle near Khopkar’s house and came out after about five minutes and then sped away. We suspect that this man may have looted her. Now that we have a face, we have begun search for the accused,” said N H Brahmbhatt, police inspector, J P Road police station.Khopkar had told police that the assailant appeared to be around 40 to 50 years of age. Brahmbhatt said that Vijay too was a suspect as he left Khopkar’s home just before the incident occurred. Vijay’s parents, who have been hired as help by Khopkar and stay right behind the bungalow, had gone to Pavagadh on Sunday morning. They had asked Vijay to look after Khopkar, police said. However, at about 10.30 am, Vijay told Khopkar that he had some work to attend to and would return in an hour. Khopkar was alone and that is when the accused knocked the bungalow’s door under the pretext of inquiring if a neighbour’s bungalow is on sale. When Khopkar said that the bungalow has already been sold, the man asked for a glass of water. When Khopkar went inside the kitchen, the man followed her and snatched her gold chain and bangles. Khopkar suffered injuries as her head banged on the wall.“We have questioned Vijay who said that he was away to meet his friend in Khambhat. We have asked for his mobile call details to ascertain his location when the crime happened. Also, if Vijay is involved, he may have called up the accused to inform him that the lady is alone,” Brahmbhatt added. “There is no evidence yet against anyone but we haven’t ruled him out as a suspect,” Brahmbhatt said.Khopkar’s daugther, Sugandha said that concerned over their mother’s safety, the elder sister will stay in the bungalow for some days. Khopkar stays alone in the bungalow as her son stays in Kenya and daugthers are married.
