Rain lashes central Gujarat brings relief

VADODARA: Steady rains were reported across central Gujarat on Saturday bringing much respite from the rising mercury over the last few days. Bodeli, Naswadi and Sankheda too received one inch of rainfall.A steady drizzle was registered at several places in Vadodara district including the city. Till 8 pm on Saturday, Kawant and Chhota Udepur talukas received two inches rainfall which was maximum in the entire district. Sources said that a small quantity of water was released from the Hadaf dam in Pamchmahal as a precautionary measure since the area received good rainfall.Chhota Udepur district too received rains in its final leg on Saturday. Most districts received moderate rainfall during the day even as rains continued at some places in the night too.Till 8pm on Saturday, both Dahod and Panchmahal districts in the region had received around 1.3inch rains.

The rains began in both the districts at around 10am in the morning and continued till the night.A compound wall collapsed on the Garden Road in the Godhra town. Since no pedestrians or bystanders were present near the wall, a tragedy was averted. Sources said that a small quantity of water was released from the Hadaf dam in Pamchmahal as a precautionary measure since the area received good rainfall.Chhota Udepur district too received rains in its final leg on Saturday. Till 8 pm on Saturday, Kawant and Chhota Udepur talukas received two inches rainfall which was maximum in the entire district. Bodeli, Naswadi and Sankheda too received one inch of rainfall.A steady drizzle was registered at several places in Vadodara district including the city. The average rainfall in the district was less than an inch.
