Vadodara: A stock of pesticides worth Rs 24.6 lakh was stolen from a logistics company’s godown at Lamdapura in Savli taluka sometime between September and November.The branch in-charge of Rhenus Contact Logistics, Tarachand Sharma, approached police on Tuesday after the theft came to light.On November 29, Sharma was informed by an employee that 25 boxes of pesticides were missing from the warehouse. The boxes belonged to another company which manufactures pesticides and uses services of the logistics company for storage and transportation of their products. The pesticides company had stored 710 boxes at the warehouse in September.Police said that the location where the boxes were stored is close to a toilet in the warehouse. Thieves might have moved the boxes in small numbers out of the warehouse from the toilet. The warehouse has CCTV cameras, but the place from where the boxes were stolen is not covered by the cameras.Company officials suspect an insider’s hand in the theft . Sharma told police that there was delay in filing a complaint as the company was conducting its own probe. Police have taken statements of the employees and are investigating through technical sources. The local crime branch of Vadodara rural police has also been roped in to support Bhadarva police in investigations.
