Stinkfree etoilets to come up in city

The e-toilets are expected to improve cleanliness in the city that already has a number other public toilets maintained by VMC or NGOs.The old city and peripheral areas have public toilets but many of them are not maintained properly so it needs such e-toilets in more numbers. Vadodara: Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has begun installing new e-toilets across the city with the first one being installed in the posh Alkapuri area.Civic body officials said that the e-toilets won’t need any people to clean or man them. VMC provides space for e-toilets and water as well as drainage connection. Prefabricated structures made from stainless steel, these toilets have automatic system for access, flushing and even cleaning the floors. The toilets will have a system in place for disposing the napkins in scientific manner and the facility will use minimal water.

Vadodara: Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has begun installing new e-toilets across the city with the first one being installed in the posh Alkapuri area.Civic body officials said that the e-toilets won’t need any people to clean or man them. Prefabricated structures made from stainless steel, these toilets have automatic system for access, flushing and even cleaning the floors. The user just has to insert a one-rupee coin in an opening near the toilet’s door which would then automatically open.The VMC had invited bids for the public e-toilets and the contract was awarded to a private firm. VMC provides space for e-toilets and water as well as drainage connection. Civic officials said that the agreement between the private firm and VMC will last for 10 years following which the toilets will become property of the civic body.The firm getting contract will get a share in the revenue earned from the charges collected for using the e-toilets as well as the advertising rights.VMC has already 16 such e-toilets in different areas while a total of 50 are planned. The facilities will also provide sanitary napkins for women through vending system. The toilets will have a system in place for disposing the napkins in scientific manner and the facility will use minimal water.
