Three days ‘Nritya Parva’ kicks off today

Vadodara: Starting from Friday , Gujarat’s cultural capital will witness a three days dance fest – ‘Nritya Parva’ – in which 15 articulate performers, teachers and scholars of dance will discuss their life and works in the city.‘Nritya Parva’ is being organised by the Anjali Memorial Committee (AMC) in collaboration with the Forum on Contemporary Theory.“This is the 40th year since the passing away of Anjali Merh in whose memory, we had started yearly performances since 1981 and have conceptualised and named it as Nritya Parva,” said professor Parul Shah, former dean of M S University’s Faculty of Performing Arts who is secretary of AMC and convenor of the symposium.The three days fest will include a national symposium on ‘Transcendence in dance: techniques of embodied performance’ which will be held on Friday and Saturday at Centre for Contemporary Theory.“It is a privilege to have concerts of one and only Astad Deboo performing for us as well as internationally acclaimed artists Padma Shri awardee Vidushi Shovana Narayan, Dr Padmaja Suresh, Ishira and Maulik Shah with their groups and our own production choreographed by Dr Ami Pandya,” said Shah.The experts will hold academic discussions on each of the three days while the acclaimed artists will stage performances at C C Mehta auditorium from 8 pm onwards.The invited experts include professor Bharat Gupt, Dr. Gowri Ramanarayan, Padma Shri award recipient Vidushi Priti Patel, Pandit Rajendra Gangani, Dr Neena Prasad, Dr Swarnamalya Ganesh, Dr S D Desai, Shilpika Bordoloi, Dr Arshiya Sethi and Padma Shri awardee Dr Ileana Citaristi among others.
