Former India pacer Munaf Patel roped in as BCA consultant

Vadodara: Former India pacer Munaf Patel has been roped in as a consultant by Baroda Cricket Association (BCA). “They both are experienced international players and their inputs will help Baroda team in performing better. After announcing retirement from cricket, Patel had approached BCA some months ago and expressed his wish to serve the association.BCA has also decided to speed up the international cricket stadium project at Kotambi. Patel will work with Baroda Ranji team as well as Under-23 boys from the upcoming season. The decision was taken during the managing committee meeting on Tuesday,” said Snehal Parikh, BCA secretary (in-charge).

Patel will work with Baroda Ranji team as well as Under-23 boys from the upcoming season. BCA officials said Patel’s inclusion will help in preparing quality pace bowlers for the team.Former India keeper Nayan Mongia too has been hired as a consultant for Under-19 and Under-16 boys. “They both are experienced international players and their inputs will help Baroda team in performing better. The decision was taken during the managing committee meeting on Tuesday,” said Snehal Parikh, BCA secretary (in-charge). After announcing retirement from cricket, Patel had approached BCA some months ago and expressed his wish to serve the association.BCA has also decided to speed up the international cricket stadium project at Kotambi. “The managing committee agreed to set aside a budget of Rs2.12 crore for preparing the ground, maintenance, security, power, wickets and other expenses. Also, a separate execution committee consisting of three office-bearers and three committee members has been formed for ensuring that the cricket stadium work is taken up swiftly,” said Amul Jikar, BCA treasurer.BCA has also prepared final audit report for 2014-15 signed by statutory auditor that will be submitted to joint charity commissioner Vadodara.
