Vadodara: A car driver from Shinor taluka was sentenced to life imprisonment after he was convicted for mowing down two kids with his car in March 2017.Convict Moti Vasava wanted to take revenge on the two kids’ father Ratilal Vasava for having an illicit relationship with his wife. He was convinced Ratilala ensnared his wife Sumitra by using black magic in 2015. A year later when Sumitra died of burns after she caught fire while cooking, her husband’s suspicions grew stronger and he frequently picked up fights with Ratilal, even threatening to kill him and his family.On March 12, 2017, Ratilal was returning home on his bike accompanied by his wife, 12-year-old son Nilesh and six-year-old daughter Nisha. Moti followed them and intentionally crashed his car into their bike. All four of them fell on the road and Moti tried to run over Ratilal. However, he jumped aside, but his two children were crushed under Moti’s vehicle. The accused fled the spot, but was later arrested and tried for murder and attempt to murder in the sessions court.During the trial, the court upheld testimonies and forensic evidences presented against the accused. The court of additional sessions judge observed that the case befits maximum punishment as the accused had murdered two innocent kids in cold blood and even attempted to kill their parents. The accused was also fined of Rs 7,000.
