Vadodara courts top in disposing decade old cases

Vadodara: Courts of Vadodara district have topped in the country for disposing of cases that were more than 10 years old in the months of January and March.A release issued by the district legal services authority said that under the drive to dispose of old cases started by the principal district and sessions judge J C Doshi, all courts of the district have successfully disposed maximum number of cases that were more than a decade old.According to the figures of National Judicial Data Grid, in March, Vadodara district courts disposed of 1,424 cases in March. All courts of state together disposed of 6,834 cases followed by Uttar Pradesh at 6,604, Maharashtra at 3,266 and Rajasthan at 2,467.The data grid figures also revealed that of the total 2.72 lakh cases pending different courts of Vadodara, 29.2% cases are more than 10-years-old. The civil court housed in Laal Court building disposed of maximum number of cases - 886, while the sessions court disposed of 300 cases.At taluka level, the taluka court of Dabhoi disposed maximum number of cases - 111, followed by Savli at 17.The state-wise figures too reveal that Gujarat topped last month in disposing of cases that were more than 10-years-old. Of these, 1,193 were civil cases while 231 were criminal.
