140 students from city clear JEE, AIM for IITs, NITs

"We had 105 students who had qualified in JEE mains out of which 59 students have now qualified in JEE advanced. Last year, there were three students in the city who had bagged AIR below 500. "There are 73 students from our centre who have cleared JEE advanced. Ayush Jain, a student of Gujarat Public School, Atladara, bagged AIR 741. "After JEE mains, I had concentrated on JEE advanced to improve my score," said Dhruv, whose father Kamlesh works with a private firm while mother Jagruti is a housewife.

Vadodara: Around 140 students from the city have qualified to get into the prestigious IITs, the National Institutes of Technologies and other centrally funded technical institutes as the results of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) advanced 2017 were declared by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, the organizer of the exam, on Sunday.Nearly 830 students from the city had appeared for the JEE (advanced) this year after clearing JEE (mains).Jay Paranjape, a student of Gujarat board from Navrachana Vidyani, who had topped the city in JEE mains with All India Rank (AIR) 129 after scoring 315 out of 360 marks, once again topped in Vadodara with AIR 79 by scoring 308 out of 366 marks in JEE advanced."There are slim chances of getting into IIT Bombay. So the best possible option for me is to pursue computer science from IIT Delhi, said Jay, whose father Nitin is an electronics engineer with a business in education and mother Archana has completed her doctorate from Gujarat University."We had 105 students who had qualified in JEE mains out of which 59 students have now qualified in JEE advanced. Of these 59, 51 are from general category," said Jitesh Joshi, centre head of FIITJEE Vadodara, adding that two other students from the centre bagged AIR below 1000.Dev Sheth, a native of small town Godhra, whose family had shifted to Vadodara before four years for the exam preparations, bagged AIR 234."I want to pursue computer science. Although according to my rank, I can get into Kanpur or Kharagpur but my preference is Delhi or Madras," said Sheth, whose mother Dipti is a housewife.Another student Siddharth Ghetia bagged AIR 294 by scoring 289 out of 366 while Dhruv Desai bagged AIR 373 by scoring 285 out of 366 and Jaynil Jaiswal bagged AIR 378 by scoring 285 out of 366."There are 73 students from our centre who have cleared JEE advanced. Last year, there were three students in the city who had bagged AIR below 500. This year, there are five students from the city in top 500 of which three are from our centre," said S R Mishra, director of IIT Ashram, Vadodara."I am looking for a career in computer science," said Siddharth, whose father Govinddas works at GNFC while mother Asmita is a housewife."After JEE mains, I had concentrated on JEE advanced to improve my score," said Dhruv, whose father Kamlesh works with a private firm while mother Jagruti is a housewife. "I am planning to join computer science either from IIT Roorkee or IIT Kharagpur."Like him, Jaynil too wants to pursue computer science."My parents have supported me a lot. Whenever, I used to get depressed they kept on motivating me," said Jaynil, whose father Nilesh is an electrical engineer at SVIT, Vasad and mother Pooja is a housewife. Ayush Jain, a student of Gujarat Public School, Atladara, bagged AIR 741.
