We all wait for season’s off and sales and with the current trend of online shopping, sales and discount offers have become common and bigger, which compel the working middle class to avail them. Recently an ad was put up in a leading daily in Vadodara edition, which claimed that people can avail 50% discount on all products with the minimum purchase value of Rs.5000 and maximum Rs.11, 000. Following the ad and trusting the brand it was published in, many people claimed the offer and ordered.

As soon as they placed their order in the mentioned range, they were asked to pay through online transactions and their shopping amount was reduced to half. But these customers never received their orders nor got any response when they approached to call the representatives.

To know more, NYOOOZ talked to one of the customers who gave us his personal account. He said “on 10th and 13th September I saw the ad from hypermarketkart.com which claimed 50% off on grocery products. I placed my order of Rs. 8000 and as promised I paid 4000 via internet banking through an app. On payment, I was told that I’ll receive my order by 16th and a representative would call me before the delivery.”

On being asked about delivery and complaint details, he told “I did not receive my order on 16th. In fact when I tried calling the available numbers none of them worked. I tried contacting the app through which I paid but was told that I need to contact the website. I also contacted Ministry of Consumer Affairs about the misleading ad, but nothing has worked so far.” To confirm NYOOOZ team also tried calling the customer care and complaint numbers given (09811508981), and received no response.

We also contacted the Cyber Cell Vadodara and were informed that such complaints have been registered and they’ll soon take action on it. We are still unsure if this is just delayed delivery services or another online scam which fooled many people.
