This marks the seventh extension provided by the court. ASI sought the extension due to the poor health of its superintending archaeologist Avinash Mohanty. The court had previously granted 10 additional days to ASI, emphasizing that it should refrain from seeking further extensions.Expert panel to probe Silkyara collapse, submit report in 10 daysThe road transport and highways ministry has formed a five-member expert panel, headed by R K Dhiman, to investigate the structural collapse of the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarkashi. The panel will submit a preliminary report on the causes in the next 10 days and a final report in a month. It will also recommend amendments to standard operation procedures in case of tunnel collapse and safety measures during construction. The panel will review project records, rescue operations, and reports submitted by the project contractor.
