VARANASI: A 35-year-old man of Devdih village in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh killed his wife and two sons, one of them an infant, before hanging himself from a tree on Sunday night.Shrawan Ram took the extreme step due to a family dispute, police learnt from a suicide note recovered from his pocket.Ballia SP S Anand said Monday that Shrawans brother-in-law Ankit called up police and complained that his sister and her children were being brutally thrashed by her husband.A police team reached the village for an inquiry.Finding no one inside the house, cops started a search and found Shrawan hanging from a tree near his house. The bodies of his wife and sons – Surya Ram (7) and four-month-old Chhatthu – were lying in a pool of blood at a little distance, the SP said, adding that the trio was murdered with a sharp weapon.Shrawans brother informed police that the couple had a disturbed marital life and they had filed a case in court over the same in the past. Around 18 months ago, they reached a settlement, following which his wife started living with her husband again. Frequent fights between the couple continued. Further investigation in the case was on, the SP said. A forensic team also reached the spot for investigation.
