In an apparent change in tone and tenor, Mr. Veerraju, who has been critical of the TDP and its president and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, said he was not in a “confrontational approach” with the friendly ally. “I am trying to place the records straight, rather than politicise the implementation of assurances given in the A.P. Reorganisation Act and allocations made to the State,” he said. The Act never said that the provisions should be implemented in five years. The railway zone proposal was hit by technical reasons, similar was the fate of the Dugarjapatnam port. The Union government asked the State government to look for alternative port to Dugarajapatnam. The State would get funds whether it was a special package or special assistance. The Opposition parties were instigating people on special category status, he alleged. Referring to the revenue deficit, he said there was a disagreement between the State and Central governments. Both the governments were trying to arrive at an amicable solution.
