Vijayawada: While the political leaders are engaged with the poll campaigns, thieves are busy trying to make most from their public rallies and roadshows.Days after a man snatched away a chain from Praja Shanti Party founder KA Paul in Vijayawada, another miscreant tried to snatch a ring from YSR Congress chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s sister Sharmila during a roadshow on Saturday near Koritepadu in Guntur district.The incident took place when she was shaking hands with the party supporters while sitting inside the bus. The unidentified miscreant tried to snatch her ring by holding her hand forcefully. Noticing the snatching attempt, Sharmila pulled her hand back.A video recorded by a party worker during the roadshow clearly shows the snatching attempt made by the unidentified man. Later, YSRC sources confirmed that Sharmila’s ring was not lost as she was alert and pulled her hand back in time. The video showing the snatching bid went viral on social media on Sunday.As she did not lose her ring, YSRC has let go of the incident and not filed any police complaint. As the election fever in Andhra is intensifying with each passing day, cops have been receiving many complaints of losing valuables during political rallies. taking serious note of growing menace, cops have advised people to be careful and avoid wearing jewellery and not carry valuables while attending crowded political meetings or rallies.
