We are working to bridge the gap between the two Indias — the rich India and the poor India created by Modi. Stating that Modi did not fulfil any of the promises, Rahul warned people to be wary of the new promises being made by the BJP and the PM.“I am not (Narendra) Modi. Modi divided India on the lines of rich and poor. This (NYAY) would correct the divide that Modi had brought in. I stand by what I say and every promise that the Congress gives to people will be fulfilled.

Vijayawada: Congress president Rahul Gandhi promised to give special category status to Andhra Pradesh if Congress comes to power after the 2019 elections.Addressing back-to-back meetings in Vijayawada and Kalyandurg in Anantapur district on Sunday, Rahul said Prime Minister Narendra Modi betrayed the people of the country by going back on his 2014 election promises, which included deposit of Rs 15 lakh in everyone’s bank accounts, and creation of 2 crore new jobs. Stating that Modi did not fulfil any of the promises, Rahul warned people to be wary of the new promises being made by the BJP and the PM.“I am not (Narendra) Modi. I don’t lie to people. I stand by what I say and every promise that the Congress gives to people will be fulfilled. We promised minimum 100 days of assured wages and brought the MNREGS. We promised food security and brought the Act. We promised protection of your lands and brought the Land Acquisition Act in 2013. We have been fulfilling ever promise that we have made in the past and we will fulfil every promise that we are making now,” Rahul said. The Congress has promised an assured monthly income of Rs 6,000 for the poorest of the poor in the country. “Our NYAY (Nyuntan Aay Yojana) would change the face of India as it assures a minimum annual income of Rs 72,000 for each family. This (NYAY) would correct the divide that Modi had brought in. Modi divided India on the lines of rich and poor. We are working to bridge the gap between the two Indias — the rich India and the poor India created by Modi. We will fix the damage done to India by Modi. We have come out with a revolutionary idea which has not been implemented by any country in the entire world. Modi is supporting the elite rich against the poor. The Congress will undo this divide and make one India that takes care of its poor,” Rahul added. He reiterated that he would give his first signature as Prime Minister on granting of SCS to AP and reassured that he would come out with a special industrial plan for the youths of the state. “The new plan would give three years of tax-free and licence-free term for new industries. After three years, the government would ask for permission and taxes would be based on the number of jobs given to the youth,” Rahul said.“We delivered our promise on farm loan waivers within two days in three states of North India, and promise to implement it in AP too. We will also help build food processing units right near farmlands, create storage facilities on a large scale and make regular hike in minimum support prices year after year. Farmers will also be brought under the ambit of the NYAY scheme,” assured the Congress chief. He also took a dig at YSRC chief Jaganmohan Reddy for his “soft corner” towards Prime Minister Modi. “He (Jagan) must be having some problems because of the cases pending against him. But he should speak for the people and the state, keeping aside his personal interests and cases,” the Congress chief added.
