more-in Gemini Edibles & Fats India (GEF India) will increase its Freedom Sunflower Refined Oil manufacturing capacity in Andhra Pradesh by adding a 500-tonne per day production unit to existing one at Kakinada soon. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of JarCar bumper draw here, GEF India vice-president, Sales and Marketing P. Chandra Shekhara Reddy said the company was having two units at Kakinada and Krishnapatnam with a production capacity of 350 tonnes per day and around 950 tonnes per day refining capacity respectively. “In addition to the one in Kakinada, we have purchased land adjacent to it and began expansion process. By the end of the 2018-19 fiscal, e would be able to start production at the new unit,” Mr. Reddy said. He said that the cost of the upcoming project would be around ?125 crore and the total production capacity in the State would go up to 1,200 tonnes per day upon completion. Units in the AP supply the product to the neighbouring States, he added. He said that Freedom brand has 53% market share in the sunflower refined oil domain in the State. Headquartered in Hyderabad GEF India does a business worth ?2,500 crore in AP, Telangana, Odisha and Karnataka. Brand promotion As part of its brand promotion, the company organised a bumper draw ‘Jarcar’ through which 400 gold coins and four cars would be given to the winners in the four states.
