more-in The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Friday demanded that the government set up a dialysis centre at Tiruvuru along with free distribution of medicines to patients, and blamed the Ministers and District Collector for not taking steps to curb kidney ailments in Krishna district. Several kidney patients, general public along with CPI(M) workers laid siege to the Mandal Revenue Officer at A. Konduru highlighting the negligence of the State Government in tackling the “medical emergency”. “Many people are unable to move owing to swollen legs and limbs. They are are bed-ridden and are unable to meet the dialysis expenses. They are dying owing to the lackadaisical approach of the State government,” said CPI State Executive Committee member Ch. Babu Rao. He said in the recent past, four patients died as they were unable to the meet the expenses. “No proper survey was done by the health department to get to the root of the issue. As per our survey, there are 600 kidney patients in A. Konduru and 500 in Gampalagudem. It is unfortunate that no Minister has so far visited these villages to give assurance to the patients”.Mr. Rao demanded that the State government take steps to improve treatment facilities and demanded an ex gratia of ?5 lakh to the family of the deceased and submitted a memorandum to Deputy Mandal Revenue Officer G. David.
