MP pushes for facelift to Tirupati rly stn

He stressed on the proposed facelift to Tirupati railway station , which is going to be taken up for an integrated development at an estimated cost of Rs 491 crore.The railway authorities are planning to set up an eight-storeyed railway station with all facilities for the convenience of passengers, mostly pilgrims. Secunderabad: Several railway development works in Tirupati are likely to gain momentum after MP Velagapalli Varaprasad Rao held a meeting with South Central Railway ( SCR ) general manager Vinod Kumar Yadav at Rail Nilayam in Secunderabad on Thursday.According to sources, Rao urged the top brass of SCR to consider completion of railway works in and around his constituency on war-footing. “The modernization project also includes construction of a hotel, multiplex, railway station plaza, food courts, exclusive departure concourse, drop off zones and waiting lounges,” said a railway official.The railways mooted the development project as people from different parts of the country visit the pilgrim city and the rail traffic has gone up much compared with the past.The MP reportedly pressed for construction of a subway at Rayalacheruvu level crossing in Tirupati, citing it as a crucial link between the southern and northern parts of the region.Rao also requested the railways to construct subways by eliminating four more level crossings in Tirupati.
